Our Mission
We are a local chapter of MANA, A National Latina Organization, which is a nonprofit, advocacy organization established in 1974. Our local chapter was formed in the fall of 1993 by Grace Sesma and a core group of 7 dedicated women. Its mission is to empower Latinas through leadership development, community service, and advocacy. MANA fulfills its mission through programs designed to develop the leadership skills of Latinas, promote community service by Latinas, and provide Latinas with advocacy opportunities. Support for these programs is derived from members, corporations, foundations, and government grants. Founded in 1974 by Mexican-American women, the membership voted to become MANA, A National Latina Organization in honor of the diversity of its ranks. Today MANA advocates for all Latinas. In these pages we will introduce our local chapter and highlight important projects and information of interest to our members. On behalf of our board of directors and members, I thank you for visiting our site and I hope that you will join us for one of our upcoming events!
